LAPAC weighs strategies to boost local food production and food-security programs

Cornelia said a viable farmers market requires multiple producers and long-term support for growing more vegetables and diversified agriculture.
Margo Kambara and others suggested creative options such as repurposing vacant retail space for vertical gardens and supporting alternative CSA models to connect growers to consumers. Betsy Khan added that community gardens and water-storage improvements could enable more local production in some areas.
