Danny Wind, a Lakeport LAPAC member, said multimodal improvements should focus where they will serve the most people and noted that “sidewalks don't explicitly make streets safer” in every context, arguing for targeted bikeways and transit-stop planning in flat, high-density corridors.
Greg Scott and others recounted local safety incidents and reinforced the call for design and enforcement changes; Scott cited a local bicycle fatality as evidence that design and driver behavior must be addressed together: “I know a good friend of mine, Lee Cook, was killed on his bicycle on Lakeshore Boulevard a couple years ago.” The group agreed active-transportation planning will be part of future county work and recommended staff view maps and identify priority corridors before drafting project recommendations.
