The Board of County Commissioners voted July 8 to table MS26-01, a major subdivision application by Mark and Missy Van Horn to vacate and replat blocks of the Allendale Addition into four lots totaling 10.65 acres in the Suburban Residential (SR) zoning district. Planning Director Sabrina Kemper presented the application and informed the board that the county had received an appeal against the application.
Attorney Thomas Garvey spoke on behalf of objectors Robert Grant, Connie McCoy, Larry McCoy and Bernard Shruder, explaining the reason for the appeal (details of the objections were not recorded in the minutes). County Attorney Ashley Smith and Planning Director Sabrina Kemper will draft the county's response based on the investigation completed to date. Commissioner Peter Nicolaysen moved to table the matter to a future date within the next two meetings to allow staff to address specific questions and concerns and to follow the county’s zoning rules; Commissioner Dave North seconded, noting that receiving an appeal prior to the commissioners deciding is procedurally abnormal. The motion carried (vote tally not specified).
