Oliver County adopts CAFO ordinance language to comply with Century Code

The commission adopted updated concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) ordinance language to comply with state Century Code after county staff and counsel determined Oliver County was not currently in compliance.
Staff (speaker 2) presented a one-page change recommended by the Department of Agriculture and noted that the county must follow state directives on CAFO standards. County counsel (speaker 4) said the recommended changes reflect what the state requires and recommended adoption. "I took a look at it and determined we are not in compliance and recommend the changes to the ordinance," counsel said.
A commissioner moved to adopt the changes and the motion passed by voice vote. The board recorded the adoption and asked planning staff to ensure the updated language is distributed to the county's planning and zoning files.
