East Flagstaff branch reports rising visits and computer use, notes roof leaks and move preparations

Caitlin Morrison, manager of the East Flagstaff Community Library, presented branch statistics and facility updates. She told the board the branch was open 3,158 hours in the last fiscal year, staff answered about 25,566 patron questions, and door counts were 194,889 — up 22% from the prior year. "Our computer usage is at 26,324 computer hours and that was up 17%," Morrison said, noting the branch's computers are heavily used and that circulation checked down about 10% while program attendance remained significant.
Morrison also reported a series of roof leaks beginning in July and August that intensified around Indigenous Peoples' Weekend; she said the leaks resulted in about $290 of lost materials but that repairs appear to be holding. The branch plans a heavy weeding and spring cleaning ahead of an eventual move to a new building, and Morrison said community response to the new building has been enthusiastic.
The board asked clarifying questions about staffing and facilities; Morrison confirmed the branch has 13 staff members (including three programmers and eight clerks) and one part-time work-study position. She noted the branch has seen typical post-COVID declines in physical circulation, consistent with national trends, while in-branch services such as computer access have increased.
