City staff presented an expanded program to mark Madeira Beach's 80th incorporation anniversary that would run yearlong, featuring a single larger signature Founders Day event and smaller activities throughout the year. "We would like to ask the businesses to maybe do specials throughout the month of May for our Founder's Day and things like that," presenter Megan Powers said, adding the city would produce an 80th logo for branding and staff would seek low-cost ways to celebrate.
Commissioners and staff discussed possible low-cost events, a marketing push, and whether films and better music should be included; staff said a working list will be circulated and that they would coordinate with recreation staff and local merchants on sponsorship and logistics.
