River Ridge to participate in Pelican Sound Safeguard Panel on disaster mitigation and street safety

Chair Schultz updated the board on the Pelican Sound Community Safeguard Panel and said the CDD will be involved in Objective 2 (safeguarding the community from natural-disaster impacts) with Mr. Merrill representing the CDD, and Objective 4 (improving street safety) with Mr. Twombly representing the CDD. PSGRC General Manager Eric Long said he emailed the communities an Action Plan of seven objectives and previewed other objectives and panel membership.
Mr. Long responded to board questions about storm-surge risks (staff noted scenarios of storm surges above 15 feet possibly flooding CDD infrastructure) and said he will provide an update on the panel’s first meeting, set for December. Staff also said sidewalk inspection results and repair estimates will be presented at the board’s January meeting.
