District Counsel and staff discussed ownership and maintenance responsibility for the roadway west of U.S. 41 to the clubhouse. Lenore Brakefield said the Village of Estero's stance is that it does not need to maintain that segment; Tony Pires (District Counsel) said he believes the County is responsible and will send a letter to both the Village and County counsel asserting that the Village owns the road.
Shane Willis told the Board he had emailed Johnson Engineering documents confirming ownership to Mr. Pires on Nov. 20, 2024. The Board did not take formal action at the meeting but directed counsel to pursue written clarification with the Village and County. The outcome and any maintenance obligations will depend on responses from local governmental counsel and supporting engineering documentation.
