Traffic-calming assessment advances; radar signs to be deployed in February

District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed Tier 1 and Tier 2 traffic-calming strategies in the draft Traffic Calming Assessment 2025, noting that initial education efforts and Safety Saturday events are underway. Three permanent and one mobile radar speed signs will be distributed across the property the first week of February; staff reported that speeding violations have decreased following earlier measures.
Krebs asked the Board to advise him or Chair Schultz of any additional areas requiring study and requested that Page 9 of the Report be updated to include the Traffic Study conclusion. The Board discussed informing residents of the existing mandate and potential installation of "Do not pass golf cart" signs at the front entrance and crosswalks; Pelican Sound is also considering changes to its traffic-violation bylaws. No formal vote was taken; staff will update the report and proceed with the radar sign deployment.
