Planning board recommends select board consider tax-deeding a Pinardville parcel

Planning staff presented a list from the tax collector of properties delinquent through February 2023 and identified Map 16, Lot 33 (a parcel behind the Cumberland Farms in Pinardville) as a candidate for tax deeding.
Joanne Duffy said staff and the tax collector provided backup documentation and recommended that the select board consider tax-deeding the parcel. "We do have backup here for you if you were interested in looking for further details on any of those properties," Duffy said. The board discussed that the rear parcel appears to have been used by a commercial occupant and that wetlands and right-of-way questions complicate reuse.
Member Dave Pierce said auctioning a tax-deeded parcel could allow a developer to finish the road and put the land into productive use. "The developer might want to put residential units there, finish the road, and that would also solve the problem we've just discussed," Pierce said.
Member Kimberly Peace moved that the board recommend the select board consider tax-deeding Map 16, Lot 33 "at a minimum for purposes of future drainage work and potential access to [the] park"; the motion was seconded and recorded with one abstention from the select board representative. The transcript records the motion and subsequent vote and then the board moved on to other business.
