Staff reported five dead white ash trees and one living ash riddled with emerald ash borer holes; the dead trees are close enough to the house to present a hazard. The commission conditioned approval on techniques to avoid ground disturbance in buffer/no-disturb areas (no heavy machinery within those zones), the use of crane or climb methods where needed, and leaving removed trees as tall standing snags to the maximum extent practicable to preserve habitat value.
The commission voted by roll call; commissioners who voted aye included Reid, Bill, Alina and Sue, and the chair cast an aye vote. Staff will document the conditions and the method of removal in the permit file.
