The Sturgis City Commission approved a request from the Sturgis Historical Society to hold walking tours at Oak Lawn Cemetery on Sept. 12–13 and an additional night tour on Saturday starting at 8 p.m.
Tom Sikorsky presented the request and told commissioners the cemetery board had approved the tours. Sikorsky described the night plan as "walking tours and keeping everyone, picking 10 to 12 veterans that are close to the path and then using lights" and said the society will do a pre‑run with staff to ensure the route will be adequately lit.
A commissioner moved to approve the request and the motion passed unanimously on a voice vote.
