Selectboard authorizes sole-source installation of beaver flow regulator at Chapel Hill Road

Town Administrator Nicola Shipman presented a proposal for addressing beaver-related conflicts at Chapel Hill Road and Krivak Road, including reinstallation of beaver deceivers (flow regulators). Shipman recommended the Selectboard work with the Conservation Commission to develop a more active beaver management plan and asked for volunteer supervision arrangements to support routine maintenance of the devices.
The Selectboard authorized a sole-source contract with contractor Skip Lisle to install a replacement flow regulator at Chapel Hill Road Culvert #4 for a cost not to exceed $5,000. The motion was moved by Kevin Gish, seconded by Ted Austin, and recorded as approved unanimously among members present. Shipman will coordinate with the Conservation Commission and the Animal Control Officer as recommended.
