Highway supervisor says roller cut chloride use, plans culvert repairs on Clifford Farm Road

At the May 18 meeting Highway Supervisor Allen Wight told the Selectboard that town-wide grading is almost complete and that testing a roller during grading was "an eye-opening experiment." He said the roller allows the road to be packed right behind the grader, reduces dust, and cuts chloride use, which he described as a positive outcome for both maintenance and environmental reasons.
Wight also flagged a section of Clifford Farm Road where he observed a crushed culvert. He said there are three culverts on that section of highway that need replacement and that he has a plan to repair them "as budget allows." Selectboard members asked follow-up questions about timing and signs; Wight said some sign work is scheduled for about a week to reset and replace damaged or leaning signs.
