Napavine civil service commission restarts police hiring after candidates drop out or fail testing

Chairman James Pea and Executive Assistant Judy Godbey told the Napavine Civil Service Commission on April 21 that there are currently no active candidates for the Police Department. Godbey said the original pool of five candidates was reduced after two were disqualified on background checks and one failed to meet physical requirements; the Commission reviewed the physical results and Commissioner Charles Rollo noted some scores were below accepted standards.
Following that update, Commissioner Charles Rollo moved to formally recognize the second Eligibility List as expired and to start a new hiring process; Chairman Pea seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Secretary/Chief Examiner Kim Alexander said she would check the paperwork received from the Police Department to confirm the records and certifications associated with the prior list. The Commission set no specific date for new postings at the meeting; Executive Assistant Judy Godbey agreed to provide dates for oral board testing to Alexander once scheduled.
The decision clears the way for the Police Department to reinitiate recruitment and testing after the department certified a new eligibility list earlier in the process and later reported the candidate losses and test results.
