Naches planners hear downtown revitalization presentation; state grant covers most design costs

On Sept. 3 the Town of Naches Planning Commission received a virtual presentation from HBB Landscape Architecture and HLA Engineering on a downtown revitalization plan that will proceed to design with grant support.
Michael Ullman of HLA Engineering told commissioners, "95% of the planning phase of the project is funded by WSDOT Transportation Improvement Board and there is a 5% town match for the grant." That funding, Ullman said, covers most design work now under consideration; commissioners were invited to submit further suggestions for the project’s design phase.
Commissioner Harris said she supports efforts to bring traffic into downtown, and several commissioners raised streetscape and access issues (see related coverage). Administrator Treesa Morales confirmed staff can accept written feedback and suggested sending amended minutes by email for later formal approval. The commission adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
Next steps: staff will collect commissioner feedback for inclusion in the design-phase scope and the commission will return the amended minutes for formal approval at a future meeting.
