Staff reports 133 new building permits, flags two large home permits

Kyle, a city staff member, told the Planning Commission that permit activity has increased. "As of Monday, we got 133 new permits," he said, and noted that residential permit values were higher than the same period last year.
The staff update listed housing projects in new-construction categories, including twin homes and multi-family units, and singled out two large single-home permits: a $960,000 permit dated 06/22/2026 and an $850,000 permit dated 07/16. Kyle also said commercial permit activity was down compared with this time last year.
Kyle also described ongoing code-enforcement priorities. "...still seeing the usual parking and grass, tall grass and weeds, rubbish and junk," he said, and added that staff will address low-hanging tree branches over streets in the coming weeks. The commission asked clarifying questions but took no formal action on the report.
The update will be recorded in weekly staff reports and staff said it will return with ordinance language for separate items under new business as needed.
