County staff reviewed SPLOST project history and the county’s capital plan, reporting remaining balances and timelines for expenditure. "After everything has been allocated with our excess loss and what we haven't spent today, we've got $36,800,000 left to spend," the presenter said, and reminded commissioners that the funds must be spent by July 31, 2027 under the applicable SPLOST rules.
Staff outlined project-level allocations including courthouse parking/deck planning, Public Works road and bridge projects (largest share), fire and EMS facilities, E911 investments and Justice Center expansion. The presenter said roughly $3.7 million is already encumbered and that the remainder had plans assigned across the coming three years; if some entities (the airport was cited) cannot spend their share, staff said those dollars could be reallocated to roads and other SPLOST-eligible projects.
