Task force highlights boater-safety class options and plans for May 16 proclamation

The group clarified local offerings and said they did not want to overstep other providers such as the Coast Guard Auxiliary, which offers paid in-person classes; the member emphasized the availability of free online options for students.
Separately, members confirmed that the youth council event on Saturday, May 16 will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and discussed arriving at 9 a.m. for a proclamation at Manatee Park tied to the event. Members agreed one slide should mention local culture and the city’s art district to give context during the presentation.
Members assigned who will read particular slides about boating and safety and recommended including links to free online resources in the slide materials so students and families can access the courses.
