Board authorizes daily fines, warns of steeper penalties for repeat violations at 350 Mission Drive

The Code Compliance Board voted May 21 to authorize fines if the owner of 350 Mission Drive fails to meet the June 30 compliance deadline. Officer John Parks told the board that staff recommended a daily fine of $50 per violation, with a maximum fiscal cap of $15,000, and the board accepted that recommendation unanimously.
Chairman Dan Kopfert also told respondents at the hearing that they have a 30-day window to appeal the board's order to the circuit court. Kopfert warned that any repeat violation of the same code within five years could be treated as a repeat offense and carry fines of up to $500 per day. The board ordered respondents to contact the code inspector to confirm compliance and set an inspector verification task with the June 30 deadline.
