Authority to seek demolition bids; board agrees to explore alternate maintenance shop on Julia Street

The board heard a new-business update that the authority will issue an invitation to bid for demolition within the next one to two weeks and that staff is exploring an alternate location for the maintenance shop.
Theresa said the authority has several vacant development-corporation parcels and proposed using a mixed-use lot on Julia Street (behind Dimock Street properties) to develop a smaller maintenance shop under the development corporation; open-market and public-housing programs would rent use of the shop. "If we put the maintenance shop there and we get city approval, then I don't think we would need the wall," she said, noting the site sits near railroad tracks and that building use and approvals would determine requirements.
Board members asked about funding; Theresa said open market and development corporation reserves could cover construction and that an architect and engineer are available to scope the project. The board signaled consensus for staff to continue inquiries and planning; no formal vote was taken on a site or funding commitment.
