Members say Florida League of Cities Youth Summit influenced their project ideas

“In November 2025, member Jessica Perkins and member Maya Erwin attended the Florida League of Cities Youth Summit,” a presenter said during the meeting. A task force member explained the workshop activity: “It’s an acronym that stands for success, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to success,” and said they adapted the tool for a student government association teaching day.
Members said the group project required teams to find an issue in another city, propose a solution, and consider how that idea could be applied locally. The task force agreed to feature the summit photo and a brief description of the exercise in their slide deck to show how the visit informed their recommendations.
Members stressed keeping presentation slides concise and using the verbal presentation to explain how the SWOT exercise and group project produced actionable ideas for New Smyrna Beach youth programming.
