David Rapacz, representing Gratiot 911, reported infrastructure and training updates to the Mid-Central Michigan MCA advisory board on July 16, 2026. Rapacz said the new Gratiot radio tower "looks good," that encryption of radio communications is moving forward this fall, and that dispatch is currently evaluating a demo of new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
Rapacz also said all dispatchers will be trained to Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) standard. Isabella and Clare counties reported no updates to 911 during the standing item. The advisory board recorded the update as part of standing business; no formal procurement vote or schedule for encryption implementation beyond 'this fall' was provided in the transcript.
