The board reviewed a package of governance documents covering social media, technology security, acceptable use (AUP) and data-retention/disposal. The chair said the policies are interlocking and recommended drafting a single resolution to adopt the suite so the governance framework—staff handbook, board rules and other policies—can be aligned.
Trustees discussed cybersecurity and insurance questions the carrier raised and noted that the town’s data-retention policy references the Colorado municipal records retention schedule. One trustee asked whether the insurance company needed a formal resolution; staff said the insurer primarily wanted to see the content of the policies. The board directed staff to prepare a resolution for adoption at a future meeting and to circulate drafts to trustees for final review.
