Staff reports recent permits, promotes 10th annual historic preservation symposium

At the May 7 meeting, planning staff summarized permits issued by staff between Feb. 18 and April 16, saying the majority were sign permits and highlighting a parking-lot paving project at 207 Bluffton Road and a fence at 16 Robertson Street.
Staff also announced the 10th annual historic preservation symposium is scheduled for next week and encouraged attendance, noting the symposium will cover grant opportunities for both commercial and residential property owners seeking to make historic-sensitive improvements. "This is a fantastic way to learn about the various grants that are available for both commercial and residential, development within Old Town," staff said.
Staff offered to circulate the symposium flyer electronically on request and invited the public to attend; commissioners asked about getting the information by email and staff agreed to provide a digital copy. The report also included a brief update that staff had approved several site-feature permits and reiterated the commission’s role in reviewing larger COA applications when required.
