The board announced a personnel appointment from closed session and approved multiple HR items that affect student services.
In the closed-session report the chair said the board approved the appointment of Erin Burke as director of certificated human resources. Burke addressed the board, saying, "I just wanted to say hello to everybody. I appreciate the opportunity. I look forward to continuing the work of Dr. Donahue and her great team of Alexis, Renee, Kylie." The board congratulated Burke.
Later in the meeting HR presented a request to establish one new associate mental health therapist position (0.8 FTE; 187 days), with an estimated salary of $64,000 and total first‑year cost roughly $87,000 funded by a mental‑health grant. HR said the new hire will complement existing in‑house URSUS educationally related social‑emotional services and that grant funding will be used for recruitment and initial payroll. The board approved the position.
The board also approved a local assignment option for speech‑language pathologist Lauren Shoahaski to allow the employee to work while her credential clears; Dr. Lawrence reported the district hired three SLPs over spring and summer and expects to reduce contractor reliance.
