The city manager provided multiple administrative updates, including orientation plans for the newly appointed council member, scheduling for a special meeting on a gateways application, a council work session on Jan. 14, and an announcement of a new police chief.
Regarding department leadership, the manager said, "we have a new chief of police and his name is Lance Arnold" and that a press conference would be scheduled soon to introduce Chief Arnold and his family to the Broken Arrow community, with invitations extended to tribal leaders and neighboring city officials. Staff stated they expect the chief to start work in the coming weeks and asked council members to attend the introduction.
Staff also outlined onboarding steps for the newly appointed councilor, noting orientation sessions with city attorney, city manager, and department briefings as part of a multi-day process. The manager said a special meeting will address the gateways application so residents and developers can participate without waiting for the general business section of a regular meeting.
