The Broken Arrow City Council authorized a professional consultant agreement with Narrative Design to begin design work on an Operations Center administration building.
Charlie Bright, director of engineering and construction, said the project follows a facilities master plan approved roughly a year earlier and is intended to address office-space shortages across city-owned buildings. "We are completely out of office space in this building," Bright said, describing a plan to relocate administrative staff from several field and operations buildings into a more public-facing administration building.
Bright said the purchase and ongoing remodel of the Windstream building created additional space and the design contract is the next step toward construction expected in about a year. The council moved, seconded, and approved the authorization by roll call.
Staff indicated further project details, construction timing, and subsequent site-specific plans will return to council for additional approvals before construction begins.
