Engineer updates: pier and road projects, New Jersey Avenue utility work, and grant application status

Jake, the borough engineer, presented the engineer's report and reviewed the status of several capital projects. He said the Bayside bulkhead replacement project is in closeout, Bayview Drive reconstruction is in final punch-list work, and the Crest Fishing Pier reconstruction is scheduled for public bidding (advertised July 29 with bids opened August 26). He reported that New Jersey Avenue sanitary sewer and water-main work has been demobilized for the summer and will remobilize afterward to finish utility main work and property-side water-service replacements between Buttercup Road and Morning Glory Road.
Jake also said the Crest Pier bathroom improvements under the NJTCA small cities program will not begin construction until August 20 and are expected to be cleared by November 20. For Stockton Avenue, the NJDOT municipal aid project is anticipated to be advertised for bid on the next agenda; Denver Avenue is in the design phase under NJDOT FY2026 municipal aid. He reported there were no updates to existing grant applications at the time of the meeting. The borough later noted it has submitted an application targeting just under $4,000,000 for a Triangle-area grant but no award was confirmed during the meeting.
Council had no follow-up questions about the engineer's presentation; the report will inform upcoming procurement and grant steps.
