Andy Surritt moved and BJ Whiteman seconded the motion; the vote was 5-0. Chief Boyer had earlier said he recruited volunteers to assist with parking and planned to park visitor buses in the USD 340 bus lot to free up spaces.
Boyer also briefed the council on a school‑safety offer: a group in Jefferson County pledged $10,000 to apply armor film to windows and doors at USD 340 schools. Estimated total cost for all schools (preschool through high school) is roughly $30,000–$35,000; the $10,000 will cover preschool and elementary work, with the Chamber of Commerce and the Booster Club covering the middle school.
