"Sister Cities has proposed providing approximately $20,000 to the city of Killeen," the presenter said, adding that the pagoda has roof leaks, pest issues and limited use. Council members thanked Sister Cities' past work; one council member expressed concern about non‑native landscaping choices (cherry blossom trees) and staff responded that landscaping details were not finalized and that native alternatives would be considered.
The staff recommendation to authorize the city manager to accept funds and move forward with beautification was included on the consent agenda and later approved with the consent package.
