UPD reports 2,003 calls in December; department highlights outreach programs and staffing changes

Chief April Morse delivered the Unified Police Department’s monthly statistics and community activity report on Jan. 6. "UPD officers responding to 2,003 calls resulting in 653 cases, 211 booking arrests," she said, and briefed the council on the department’s community events, including Officer Santa and Shop with the Shield, which served 15 families and 51 children.
Morse also described a precinct challenge that collected over 10,000 items and nearly $2,000 for the Connie Crosby Family Resource Center, and noted personnel changes: the retirements of Sergeant Chad Zitting and Officer Chad Ogden, the departure of police service dog Kash after nearly 10 years of service, Sergeant Zach Bench changing positions, and the additions of Sergeant Ryan Watson and Sergeant Preston Allred. She reminded the council of the Jan. 17 remembrance for Officer Doug Barney.
