Board members reviewed the district's AI policy and described ongoing implementation steps. The chair said the policy was developed through committee work and adopted earlier in May 2026, and emphasized that the policy should remain changeable as tools and practices evolve.
"We did create that policy, and we did adopt it, I think in May '26," the chair said, noting the policy is intended to be malleable. A board member added the policy included student participation in committee work; the chair and wellness-committee members said they will develop annual use documents and guiding questions to present to teachers and digital-learning specialists as the work continues.
Members cautioned that AI questions often intersect with broader digital-learning and device-use topics and said the wellness committee would take on convening broader input on developmentally appropriate technology use. The board agreed to keep students involved in committee discussions and to revisit guidelines after piloting approaches.
