Council approves amendment expanding redevelopment area for Orion Asset Management, Plano Pharmaceuticals

The Zion City Council voted July 21 to approve a first amendment to a redevelopment agreement that expands the overall developable boundaries for a site held by Orion Asset Management LLC and intended for use by Plano Pharmaceuticals.

A city attorney, who presented the amendment, said the change was prompted by a boundary adjustment and was limited to adding property to the redevelopment area. "This is not any impact upon the city. It is literally just an increase of the overall developable property," the attorney said during the presentation, and recommended approval. The council moved, seconded and approved the amendment by roll call.

Mayor Billy McKinney called the roll and commissioners voted aye; Commissioner Stackhouse and Commissioner Fisher supported the motion and Commissioner Frierson voted in favor as well. The amendment was described as an update to the redevelopment agreement to reflect the inclusion of additional property and to provide greater flexibility for Orion and Plano Pharmaceuticals to develop the site.

No changes to city budget appropriations or new funding commitments for the municipality were reported during the discussion. The city attorney said the amendment had been agreed to informally with the parties and recommended formal approval by the council. The ordinance was enacted by a unanimous vote of those present.
