Selectboard Chair Peter Brzozowy read the official warning for a Nov. 5 special meeting to be held by Australian ballot at the Isle La Motte Town Office (former Elementary School). The board reviewed petition and statutory requirements and set an informational meeting for Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM (remote participation available).
The warning contains two articles: Article 1 would establish an ILM 2024 Reserve Fund to deposit up to $79,000 from general fund surplus for town-office improvements and grant match in accordance with 24 V.S.A. § 2804; Article 2 would reserve up to $12,500 of 2024 town surplus funds as matching grants to construct a 20-foot by 40-foot pavilion at Veterans Recreational Park. The board discussed whether petition signatures met the 5% registered-voter threshold and instructed follow-up with Town Clerk Vickie Buswell to confirm validation of signatories.
To ensure broad participation, the Selectboard voted to mail the ballot for the two articles to all registered voters; Cary Sandvig moved to approve mailing, the motion was seconded by Pat Treckman and recorded as all in favor. Ballots will be counted by the Isle La Motte Board of Civil Authority on Nov. 5.
