Representatives of the Recreation Department presented an AARP grant support letter, which the Selectboard read and signed for inclusion in town files. The department expressed concern that oversight of park equipment and ongoing maintenance of grounds exceed the capacity of volunteers and should be treated as town responsibilities.
Chair Peter Brzozowy said he will contact the town's insurance company to discuss urgency and priority of outstanding action items from a prior report; Michael Simanskas said he had spoken with a Vermont League of Cities & Towns (VLCT) representative about liability considerations. Selectboard members asked the Recreation Department to provide a detailed list of anticipated landscaping and maintenance projects when preparing its 2025 budget request and discussed rolling annual appropriations into a reserve fund for larger, longer-term park projects.
