Selectboard considers using ARPA funds for heat pumps as boiler nears end of life

Selectboard members discussed options for spending remaining American Rescue Plan Act funds on the Town Office HVAC system during the Aug. 21 meeting. Mary-Catherine Graziano said staff favored installing heat pumps or mini-split units and that the building’s boiler is approaching the end of its serviceable life.
Graziano also noted contractor availability is limited and that the Vermont League of Cities & Towns recommended establishing a reserve fund to protect the award. The board agreed to seek quotes and continue discussion at the next regular meeting on Sept. 4 with the goal of reaching a decision by October.
