Selectboard revises Main Street tree-trimming bid, requires contractor schedule and sets Oct. 15 due date

Selectboard members reviewed a revised bid document for tree trimming on Main Street and agreed to require bidders to provide estimated start and completion dates.
Mary-Catherine Graziano said she had been in contact with contractor Travis Bruyette and that he "apologized for his slow response to repeated calls from Town officials," and that he intends to complete contracted work in November and attend the Oct. 16 Selectboard meeting to discuss remaining tasks. The board noted Mr. Bruyette's backlog of work in the region as a reason to allow a longer completion window.
The board streamlined trimming specifications and set the bid due date for October 15, 2024 so the Selectboard can review bids at its October 16 meeting. Cary Sandvig moved to publish the bid with the discussed edits; the motion was seconded by Selectboard Chair Peter Brzozowy and passed unanimously.
The board instructed staff to notify contractors (by text) that the bidder should be prepared to discuss schedule and completion dates at the Oct. 16 meeting. The board also discussed including a proposed completion date of year-end 2025 in the scope language to allow for contractor backlogs.
