Ms. McGuire said that since the fall estimate market conditions (inflation and other cost pressures) and refinements in scope have increased estimated needs, and that restoring the CE's cut alone "would not be enough"; she estimated the realistic cost could be closer to $18–20 million, implying an additional $5–7 million beyond what had been requested.
Committee members and staff discussed whether to restore the CE reduction; members were told doing so would likely require additional funds and that the district could phase work over multiple years, but the committee ultimately accepted the CE reduction noting the broader operating-budget connection.
