Kristen Cummings told the committee that the county’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program received $1.2 million in FY26 and that the County Executive transmitted a proposed $500,000 supplemental appropriation to support additional eligible organizations. If approved, the FY26 allocation would total $1.7 million and the department reports it would cover 49 organizations that met established eligibility criteria.
Cummings said the department provided detailed utilization reporting in the staff packet and that the item was introduced April 28 with a public hearing and action to follow in the coming weeks. The committee did not take a final vote at the work session and requested the public hearing be scheduled per normal legislative process.
