The board approved a police‑department request to surplus older duty weapons and trade them with Acme Sports to obtain credit for weapon attachments for the tactical unit. Chief Heichman told the board the surplus will allow the department to “purchase modern updated stuff for our department and get those issued out to our people.”
He said the vendor has taken trades for years and will provide credit based on the weapons’ value; the attachments are intended to enhance the department’s duty rifles and were described as unaffordable without the trade. Chief Heichman offered to read serial numbers into the record if the board preferred; the chair declined and the board approved the surplus and trade by voice vote.
