During the Feb. 5 meeting, Councilmember Jeff Grenell told colleagues he had not completed the required ethics training for a two‑year period and said that his reasons did not excuse the failure to comply with state and county requirements. He encouraged fellow councilmembers to complete training in a timely fashion and said he intends to undertake additional ethics instruction going forward.
Administration will continue sending reminders about training opportunities, will add ethics training reminders to council agendas before due dates, and will maintain certification records on the Village website. Newly elected officials were reminded they must complete required training within the designated timeframe after taking office.
