Representatives from Byers Engineering, speaking on behalf of T‑Mobile, presented a plan to install a fiber distribution cabinet within the public right‑of‑way along NE 24th Street near Andrews Avenue. The installation would include underground fiber conduits via directional boring, a concrete pad for a cabinet, a handhole vault and electrical service for distribution equipment. Council raised concerns about pedestrian safety, visual impacts, and whether residents would materially benefit from the installation.
Because the meeting packet lacked engineering drawings and visual renderings, Councilmember Jeff Grenell moved to defer the item until the applicant provides engineering drawings, elevation renderings and a visual representation of the cabinet; Councilmember Arnold Aliff seconded and the motion passed 4‑0. The council requested more detailed documentation before taking further action.
