Superintendent Rick Winters reported on the start of the 2024'25 school year and told the board that collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) will be ready for board approval at the September meeting. He said the district has applied for an emergency grant to address HVAC system problems in elementary buildings.
Winters also provided a special education staffing update: there are six special education students in the district, and the board was told a full-time paraeducator will assist the program. He said one current certificated teacher applied for the special education teacher position and that, if that teacher is hired, the district would need to hire another teacher to cover that teacher's classes. Winters noted that he is the only district staff member with a SPED license and currently serves as the SPED director and teacher.
