"I'm requesting to utilize up to $40,000 of those funds to purchase an unmarked vehicle that would be either used... for the detective position," the chief said. He told council the vehicle would not be pursuit‑rated but would be equipped with lights for non‑emergency responses; the chief said the high‑mileage vehicle in the fleet (over 100,000 miles) would be rotated to lower‑use roles if a replacement is purchased. Council members moved, seconded and approved the authorization during the meeting.
