Bristow approves police union contract; hires one officer, defers another

The Bristow City Council entered executive session to discuss bargaining with the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge No. 141, and potential police hires under state open-meeting exemptions. After reconvening on Jan. 21, 2025, the Council approved a Collective Bargaining Agreement for fiscal year 2024–2025 with the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge No. 141, and authorized execution of the agreement.
On personnel actions, the Council voted to take no action on the possible employment of Vincent Martinez as a police officer (Step 1, $18.52 per hour, one-year probation). Separately, the Council approved the employment of David Wright as a police officer at Step 1 ($18.52 per hour) with a one-year probationary period. The union contract and the hiring decision were both recorded by roll call with motions made by Council members. The collective bargaining decision authorizes city execution of the agreement; administrative details and implementation will follow city personnel procedures.
