Council approves Wildflower Meadow Phase 2 final plat, grants 6,000-sq.-ft. lot variance

The Bristow City Council closed a public hearing and approved the Final Plat for Wildflower Meadow Addition, Phase 2, and granted a variance to allow 6,000-square-foot lots on Jan. 21, 2025. The motion approving the Final Plat and the variance passed on roll call with all voting members present.
Developer Mark McGuire told the Council the Phase I approval had been for 6,000-square-foot lots and said that approval was granted by the prior mayor "by a handshake." Councilmember Judd Johns noted the city ordinance states 7,000-square-foot lots as the default lot size; Attorney Beth Anne Childs advised the appropriate motion would be to approve the Plat as presented and the variance to 6,000-square-foot lots. The Council also approved Phase 3 to have 6,000-square-foot lots but required the Phase 3 Plat be presented to the Council for final approval.
The approval and variance allow the developer to proceed with Phase 2 under the 6,000-square-foot configuration; recording and any required documentation will follow standard plat and permitting procedures at the city.
