Finance Officer Trudy Waterman told council members that the State of South Dakota has allocated funding to help governments perform cybersecurity testing under a SecureSD program. Waterman and DFO Keegan said the proposed tests would be conducted by DSU Madlabs and that Cybertek Systems would collaborate to secure the city’s systems based on the test results.
Waterman also said the City of Gregory may be eligible to obtain a .gov internet address as part of the process. Council did not vote on the matter at the Feb. 17 meeting but indicated staff interest in participating in the testing program.
