Council hears $200,000 estimate for auditorium emergency generator; staff to seek funding

Public Works Supervisor Guhner Kepler told the council that H & O Electric and Rosebud Electric provided an estimate of about $200,000 to install a generator capable of powering the Gregory Auditorium in an emergency. Kepler said the city will conduct additional research into funding opportunities because such a generator is not required by the State of South Dakota and may not qualify for state grants.
Kepler said the city will keep the estimate on file and revisit the idea at a later meeting. No motion or vote was taken on purchasing or financing the generator during the Feb. 17 session.
