Streets Department reports Homecoming cleanup and pothole patching; details Municipal Lot #1 remediation plan

Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips told council that the Streets Department has been cleaning up for Homecoming and performing pothole patching. He updated the council on Municipal Lot #1 sinkhole concerns and outlined a remediation plan developed with Borough Manager Cindy Wells and Solicitor Tim Wachter.
Phillips said Mansfield will fill the sinkhole, replace approximately 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin; smoke-and-dye testing is planned after the repairs are completed. The borough is awaiting quotes from JT Patching and Paving and Cross Paving for paving of the repaired area and notified that local business owners and the Union City VFD will be informed prior to testing.
